Balance with Alison Bechtel Clark | Part 3

The Wisdom Of Letting Go Of Control To Reach Your Goals With Alison Bechtel Clark

Creating more balance sometimes requires you to let go of control.

In this episode of the PSI Podcast, hosts Tim Bowen and Brandon Oshiro continue their conversation with personal coach, PSI Women’s Leadership instructor, triathlete, mother and business owner Alison Bechtel Clark.

Alison explains why professional and personal balance does not come from keeping the two sides of your life completely separate or giving them equal hours. It comes from being fully present, knowing what matters most and making room for every part of who you are.

She shares how she learned to release control, delegate responsibilities and focus on the work that only she could do. By training and empowering the capable people around her, Alison reduced her working hours, increased her income and created more time for her family.

The conversation also introduces a seasonal model for understanding balance. Some seasons are meant for planting new ideas and pursuing growth. Others call for focused action. There are also seasons when you need to rest, recover and reflect without judging yourself for slowing down.

Alison uses her Ironman experience to show why periods of intense effort need to be followed by recovery. These seasons do not follow the calendar and may last for months, weeks or even part of a day. What matters is recognizing what you need now and giving yourself permission to respond.

Balance is not about maintaining the same pace every day. It is about moving between growth, action and rest with greater presence and purpose.
